Appreciate Complexity and Enjoy Simple Pleasures

If you feel like life is moving faster these days, you’re not alone.  With immediate access to seemingly unlimited information, it is no wonder that our lives become full with trying to fit it all in.  Especially during this time of year, the hustle can become a hassle and strain even the most patient of people.  My Dad will often remind me, “make sure you take some time to smell the roses.”  As a professional who helps business owners pay less tax and others solve their tax problems, I have learned to appreciate complexity.

Studying technical material in my line of work can put just about anyone to sleep.  If partnership basis considerations were entertaining, I don’t think I would have ever gotten our son to sleep as a baby.  The Internal Revenue Code isn’t the flashiest of covers to have on your child’s bookshelf, but it is effective.

By using legal, tax-saving strategies to help business owners pay less tax, I get to help them achieve their goals sooner or find another source of cash to put towards supporting their purpose.  How does tax planning allow me to enjoy simple pleasures?  For me, focusing on tax planning and representation allows me the flexibility to walk my kids to school every day and hear first-hand what is influencing their lives.  If the procedures to resolving tax problems were not complex and the tax code not everchanging with new political and policy agendas, then I may not get to enjoy those moments as frequently with my kids.

During this season of gratitude, please acknowledge the complexities in life that allow you to enjoy the simple pleasures too. There are a lot of good people with fantastic stories to share out there and I am thankful for being reminded of that every day.
